Shireen Abu Akleh, an established Al Jazeera reporter, was likely killed by a “wrong” shot fired by an Israeli soldier, the Israeli army said on Monday.

According to a statement, it was not possible to identify the exact culprit of Abu Akleh’s murder despite many investigations by a certified professional team.

Nonetheless, it stated that there was a “high possibility” that she was killed by forces shooting “inadequate fire” at Palestinian terrorists during combat.

The army went on to say that Abu Akleh may yet be assassinated by a Palestinian shooter.
