During Monday’s contentious UN Security Council discussion on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Arab countries sharply denounced Israel.

Several Arab representatives spoke out against Israeli actions against Palestinians, particularly the violence that took place in East Jerusalem and at Al-Aqsa Mosque over the weekend.

Palestinian “terrorist” groups and Iran’s growing threat have been ignored by UN Security Council members, Israel said.

UN Middle East peace coordinator Tor Wennesland reported that 23 Palestinians, including three women and four children, had been killed and 541 injured in clashes with Israeli soldiers.

It was reported that a total of 12 Israelis two of them women were killed by Palestinians, and 82 were injured.

“Security” is “Israel’s favorite argument,” Palestine’s permanent observer to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, stated.

“Arguments for unlawful occupation, forcible relocation, blockade, the killing of children on their way to school, and bombardment of entire districts are all examples of this ‘one-size-fits-all justification’,” he said.

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erden, described the country as being during a “terror wave.”
