According to the Iraqi military, the country’s army forces captured 38 militants from the Daesh/ISIS terror group on Saturday.

Ali Al-Fariji, the head of operations command in Kirkuk, announced that a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized during the large-scale raid in the city.

He added that security forces also destroyed eight shelters belonging to the terror group.

In recent months, attacks blamed on Daesh/ISIS terrorists have escalated in Iraq, especially in the Salahuddin, Diyala and Kirkuk provinces.

By reclaiming all of its territories invaded by the terror group in 2014, which amount to about a third of the country, Iraq declared victory against Daesh/ISIS in 2017.

However, the terror group still maintains sleeper cells in large areas of Iraq and periodically launches attacks. Meanwhile, the Iraqi army continues to carry out frequent operations against the group.
