Iranian Defence Minister Amir Hatami has claimed that the United States and Israel use terrorism to assume more leverage. This statement was made on Thursday in a conference of defense ministers of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), which Defense Minister Hatami attended.
In his statement, Minister Hatami also stated that Iran sees the Indian Ocean as a window on the world. The resources in this region should be partitioned equitably among countries located on the coasts of the Indian Ocean, he added.
Referring to the assassination of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Qasem Soleimani and Deputy Head of the Popular Mobilization Forces Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis by a US airstrike near Baghdad on January 3, 2020, Hatami was quoted saying that “The United States and the Zionist regime (Israel) use terrorism as a tool to increase their influence whenever they get a chance.”
