On Friday, protesters raided the House of Representatives (HoR) in Tobruk in eastern Libya.

A group stormed the HoR and set it on fire, the Libyan-based February television channel said. Smoke rising from the eastern-based parliament were shared by local media through videos taken.

Calls for demonstrations and civil disobedience on July 1 in all cities were made by a group organized on social media under the Youth Revolution slogan.

The abolishment of legislative and executive bodies, the declaration of a state of emergency and the organization of elections held as soon as possible were demanded by the demonstrators.

Hundreds of young people gathered in Martyrs’ Square in Libya’s capital Tripoli and started the protest.
