On Friday, the Palestinian group Hamas released a statement that slams the US Senate’s recent decision to keep the American embassy in Jerusalem. Spokesman Qassem stated that this decision could not prevent the struggle of the Palestinian people regarding liberating Palestinian lands from Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state.

Last Thursday, the United States Senate voted 97-3 in favor of amendment confirmed that the US embassy to Israel would remain in Jerusalem. Democratic Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Tom Carper voted against the amendment. Previously, it has been announced that the Biden administration would not reverse the decision regarding the US embassy in Jerusalem taken by Donald Trump.

During the Trump era, the relations between Palestinians and the United States have been tense because of the Deal of the Century and the relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. It is expected that this situation will continue in the Biden era, since the US support for Israel still in progress.
