An official statement issued by the office of the governor of Jerusalem stated that the governor had been detained by Israel’s intelligence service from his residence.
Many people were taken aback when the Israeli police did not provide a reason for the arrest, which surprised many people.
Israel has detained Adnan Ghaith dozens of times over the course of several years, the majority of which were brief detentions lasting only a few minutes to a few hours in duration. Because of this, he has been barred from entering the West Bank for the foreseeable future.
