Egyptian FM affirms Cairo’s readiness to engage in Ethiopian Dam negotiations

Egyptian Foreign Minister stated to the chairman of the African Union Commission of the country’s continuing readiness to engage in talks of the GERD dispute.

Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister of Egypt, hosted the chairman of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki in Cairo, on the evening of 31 January. In this meeting, Shoukry underlined the necessity of a binding solution to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) dispute, which takes into consideration the interests of all parties. Furthermore, the foreign minister highlighted the importance of Egypt’s rights and interests concerning the water coming in the Nile.

Shoukry also informed Chairman Moussa Faki that Egypt would be prepared at any time to find a productive solution to the GERD negotiations.
