Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who came to Algeria to hold official talks.

In a written statement made by the Presidency of Algeria, it was stated that during the meeting, the status of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement signed between Algeria and China in 2014 was evaluated and ideas were exchanged to strengthen existing friendly relations.

The statement also stated that Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra was also present at the meeting.

Making a statement to the press after the meeting, the Chinese Foreign Minister said that despite increasing global crises, his country’s close friendly relations with Algeria continue to remain stable.

Regarding international cooperation, Wang Yi noted the efforts made by his country and Algeria, as two countries representing the developing countries, declaring that: “We will ensure the strengthening of unity and solidarity to preserve the rights and interests of developing while working to strengthen coordination and communication around regional and international issues.”

Wang Yi also stated that the two countries are in close cooperation within the scope of combating the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasized that the parties are in mutual support to overcome the difficulties.

Emphasizing that China and Algeria have a friendship based on mutual trust and support, Wang Yi noted that no matter how many vaccines Algeria will need, his country will respond to this demand.

The Chinese Foreign Minister also held talks with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry on July 18.
