In advance of early elections in October, the Knesset (Israel’s Parliament) voted on a bill to dissolve itself on Wednesday.
110 MPs voted in favor of the measure on Wednesday. Next week is anticipated to see a second and third vote.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation stated that it is anticipated that the procedures for approving the dissolution of the Knesset with three readings would be finished by next Monday.
The early election date, which is anticipated to be October 25, will be included in the measure.
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and Prime Minister Naftali Bennett jointly announced on Monday night that they had decided to dissolve the Knesset and hold early elections.
If the law is approved by the Knesset, Lapid will lead a transitional administration until a new Cabinet is established following the elections.
