On Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke by phone with his Emirati counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan on bilateral relations.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that Al-Nahyan also exchanged messages of congratulations with Cavusoglu over the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The upcoming visit schedule between the two countries was also discussed by the two foreign ministers.

A major thaw is being experienced in the ties between Turkey and the UAE after years of tense relations.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Abu Dhabi in February 2022 and said Turkey and the UAE have a common goal of taking bilateral ties to higher levels.

Last November, the visit by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Ankara was a crucial turning point in bilateral ties, leading to the announcement of a $10 billion fund for investments in Turkey.
