Bahraini Foreign Minister discusses Palestine with Egyptian counterpart

During the phone call, Bahrain’s Foreign Minister expressed his country’s support to the Egyptian initiative calling for a ceasefire between Palestinian and Israeli sides.

Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani held phone talks with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry on Wednesday. The phone call came within the context of attempts to secure a ceasefire between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

According to the statement issued by the Bahraini Foreign Ministry, the two top diplomats discussed the latest developments that occurred in the Palestinian territories. The two also exchanged views on ways to reduce tension and ensure a comprehensive ceasefire between the Palestinians and the Israelis in the Gaza Strip, the statement added.

Stressing the importance of the international community’s role in reducing escalation and providing security for civilians, the Bahraini Minister expressed his country’s support for the Egyptian initiative, which calls on parties to reach a comprehensive ceasefire agreement. Zayani also expressed his best wishes for the success of the Egyptian initiative.

In response, the Egyptian Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of coordination between the neighboring countries as well as the international community in promoting peace efforts in the region and ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Last week, an Egyptian delegation visited Tel Aviv to discuss with Israeli officials as a part of de-escalating the tensions between Israel and Hamas and negotiate a ceasefire in the conflict observed in the Gaza Strip. Besides, Egyptian Foreign Minister Shoukry condemned the Israeli attacks against Palestinians in a phone call with his Israeli counterpart.
