In the early hours of Sunday, an official delegation led by the Southern Transitional Council (STC) chairman Aidarus al-Zoubaidi left Yemen for talks with Russian officials.
A statement made by the STC indicated that Aidarus al-Zoubaidi will discuss with Russian government officials and members of the Russian parliament on several issues, however further details were not given.
This visit came after STC rejected President Hadi’s latest appointments, including the Shura Council members and a Public Prosecutor. STC officials also expressed that any decision without prior consultation to STC will be thwarted.
Last December, it was announced that a new Yemeni government, which included ministers from the STC, was established. The formation of a new government is one of the significant points that the Riyadh Agreement foresaw, signed between the internationally recognized government of Yemen and the STC.
