The UN Special Adviser to Libya Stephanie Williams discussed the latest political developments in Libya with the President of the High Council of State (HCS) Khalid al-Mishri.

The UN Advisor to Libya Stephanie Williams visited the High Council of State (HCS) office in the capital Tripoli.

Making statements on her social media account after her meetings with the HCS President Khalid al-Mishri, Williams stated that all political actors in Libya should be in consultation and communication in order to preserve the current calm and stability in Libya and to ensure that the country can reach the national elections in an effective way.

In addition to this, in a written statement issued by the HCS press office, it was emphasized that the parties should reach a consensus for the holding of the elections in Libya and the end of the transition period.

Previously Williams had discussed the latest developments in Libya on Sunday with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh and Fathi Bashagha, who was appointed as the transitional Prime Minister by the Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR).
