Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Tuesday that Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have a shared objective of strengthening bilateral ties.
“We are taking necessary steps to strengthen economic ties in all areas, especially in infrastructure, aviation, banking, and finance,” Erdogan said while addressing businesspeople and investors in Abu Dhabi.
The Turkish president is in the UAE for a two-day visit at the invitation of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He previously visited the nation in 2013.
He went on to say that both nations are committed to improving commercial relations and increasing investment, as evidenced by the signing of 13 cooperation agreements in various areas on Monday.
Erdogan stated that the UAE is Turkey’s most important trading partner in the Gulf region, and that despite tight ties, trade volume and buoyancy in private sector partnerships were maintained.
“I believe that we will make significant progress in a short time,” Erdogan said, adding: “The UAE offers financial support and favorable investment opportunities to high-tech companies and startups. Turkey, with its dynamic and young population, is leading new global initiatives that develop advanced technology.”
Later in the day, Erdogan will pay a visit to the Expo 2020 Dubai world fair.
