Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh has ordered the opening of the Sharara, Al-Feel, al-Wafa and Hamada oil fields, which have been closed by the government-affiliated Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) since December 20, as soon as possible.
In the statement made by the media office of the Government of National Unity (GNU), it was reported that Prime Minister Dbeibeh met with PFG officials on Monday and listened to the group’s complaints.
In the statement, it was stated that a commission was established to improve the working conditions of the personnel responsible for the protection of oil fields and to overcome the difficulties experienced.
Following these developments, Akakaus Oil Company announced that production has resumed at the Sharara oil field and oil has been pumped into the warehouses in Zawiya.
After oil production was stopped by the government-affiliated PFG on December 20, the Libyan National Oil Company (NOC) declared force majeure due to the loss of more than 300,000 barrels in total in the south of the country.
