UNSMIL Coordinator Zenenga meets HoR Speaker Fawzi al-Nouairi

UNSMIL Coordinator Raisedon Zenenga and Acting Speaker of Parliament Fawzi al-Nouairi met yesterday in capital Tripoli regarding latest developments on postponed Libyan presidential elections.

In a statement made by the official UNSMIL Twitter account, it is emphasized that completing election process is the main priority in the country where 2.8 million people had registered to vote.

In addition to this, Zenenga highlighted that broad consultations among all relevant entities and stakeholders towards overcoming the present challenges and charting a path to elections is essential to provide stability for the country.

He also reiterated continued UNSMIL support to the Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political economic and security tracks.

Lastly, the Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR) discussed the issue of postponing the elections for six months and starting a reconciliation process between the parties in the session on Monday, December 27, and various suggestions were presented by members.
