According to its owner, Israeli soldiers destroyed a Palestinian home in the West Bank on Tuesday, the latest in a string of demolitions in the occupied area.

When asked why the home in Jabal al-Sundas in Hebron was demolished, an Israeli official blamed “lack of a construction permission,” according to Mohamed al-Atrash, speaking to an international news outlet.

A correspondent on the scene from the same outlet said that the home destruction has sparked skirmishes between Palestinians and Israeli security personnel.

As part of a final-status deal with the Palestinians, Israel has administrative and security responsibility for the two-story residence situated in Area C.

The West Bank, which includes East Jerusalem, was partitioned into three sections in the 1995 Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said that between January and November 2021, Israel destroyed 768 Palestinian buildings in Area C and occupied East Jerusalem.
