The Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Libya, Stephanie Williams, met with Major General Osama Juwaili, the Director of the Military Intelligence Department on the latest developments related to the reunification of the military institutions.

In the posts she shared on her Twitter account after the meetings, Williams stated that she was informed about the steps taken to unify the military institutions and that these efforts are very necessary for the stability of the country.

In addition to this, Williams also participated in a meeting of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee in the city of Sirte on December 16. During the meetings, she called for the need to build on the gains achieved during the past period and work to unify Libyan military institutions.

The elections in Libya, which were scheduled to take place on December 24, were postponed.

Yesterday, the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) suggested that the elections be postponed to January 24, 2022, in coordination with the Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR).
