From December 15 onwards, foreign employees in Jordan who are not properly vaccinated against COVID-19 may face severe penalties, including deportation.
According to a Jordanian interior ministry statement, “The decision seeks to preserve public health, emphasizing that encouraging foreign employees to be vaccinated protects them against future illnesses and disease transmission.”
Immunization for foreign employees eligible is conducted free of charge, without presenting any form of residence or employment credentials.
According to a Jordanian health ministry briefer, a total of 4,142,489 people have received their first COVID-19 vaccination, while 3,754,055 have been completely vaccinated.
On Wednesday, Jordan’s health authorities reported 5,047 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 958,990, with 56,991 active patients undergoing treatment.
Owing to a rise in the number of delta variant infections and hospitalization rates, Jordanian officials have previously claimed that the nation has entered a third wave of COVID-19, with this year’s second wave beginning in the first quarter.
Most recently, authorities have prohibited passengers from South Africa and six other African nations from entering the country, following the outbreak of the omicron COVID-19 strain in these countries. The new variant of the virus was discovered for the first time in South Africa.
