Martin Griffiths, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, is reported to visit Iran for the first time to conduct a meeting with Iranian officials about the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Griffiths, who will be in Tehran for a two-day visit, is said to be in the country due to his efforts in finding a diplomatic solution to the civil war in Yemen, his office mentioned.

According to sources, the priority of Griffiths is to support an agreement between the conflicting parties, press the resumption of the political processes and implement humanitarian measures at once. Furthermore, Griffiths’ spokeswoman Ismini Palla highlights that the meeting was planned for some time.
