Iraqi security forces have killed Abu Yasar Al-Issawi during an intelligence-led operation in the west of Kirkuk. The news on the killing was announced on Thursday by Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, who did so through a tweet. The tweet referred to the Prime Minister’s previous promises in pursuing ISIS terrorists, and declared the fulfilment of said promise with a ‘thunderous response’ by the Iraqi Armed Forces.

The death of ISIS’ deputy commander and chief in Iraq came a week after the twin suicide attack in Baghdad, which caused the death of 32 people and injured more than 100.
