Turkey’s exports to Libya have increased by 72.3 percent in the first 6 months of this year compared to the same period in 2020, reaching $1,2 billion in volume. It is stated that the increase in numbers is directly proportional to the increase in food products, construction materials and textile products.
In addition to this, it was recorded that the export figures reached the highest level in June.
In this sense, official visits between the two countries, which have increased with the takeover of Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh’s unity government, played an important role in the increase of commercial relations and the creation of cooperation areas.
Turkey-Libya relations continue to progress in a positive way after the security and maritime jurisdiction agreement with the UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA).
Especially with the ceasefire in October last year and the Government of National Unity (GNU) taking office in March, economic relations between the two countries gained serious momentum.
In April, Prime Minister Dbeibeh visited Turkey, leading a delegation consisting of 14 ministers. Within the scope of the visit, five different agreements were signed between the two countries. In the statement published after the visit, Prime Minister Dbeibeh stated that they are willing to work with Turkish companies in the construction and energy sector. After this date, mutual initiatives accelerated through the Foreign Economic Relations Council (DEIK) and similar institutions.
