Within the scope of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum that started in Antalya on June 18, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush and Malta Foreign Minister Evarist Bartolo on the final day of the forum. As part of the meeting announced by Çavuşoğlu on his Twitter account, it was stated that the parties evaluated many issues regarding Libya.
The Turkish Foreign Minister and his counterpart Mangoush last met on 12 June in the capital Tripoli. Information on the content of the meeting was not shared. The delegation led by Çavuşoğlu held numerous meetings with Prime Minister Dbeibeh and other Government of National Unity (GNU) officials.
Also speaking at the forum, the Chairman of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), Murtaza Karanfil, stated that Libya’s stability concerns Turkey, and said, “Geopolitically, Turkey is the gateway to the world. At the same time, the gateway and key to Africa is Libya. That’s why we care about Libya.”
Karanfil further expressed, “Libya has been our brother country for 500 years, in the context of our long-standing friendship, Blue Homeland and strategic military cooperation. We are very interested in the stability of Libya.”
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which was organized for the first time this year, under the auspices of the Turkish Presidency in Antalya’s Belek region, was held with the participation of ten heads of state, 42 foreign ministers, three former heads of state and government, and 52 international organization representatives.
