Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, the Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, emphasized that Sudan is determined to create a stable environment to attract investors and overcome all the problems that hinder the implementation of the agreements.

After returning from his official visit to Turkey, he said in a press release at Khartoum Airport, “We set out with joint meetings and witnessed the seriousness and determination of the Turkish side. We agreed to update all previous agreements. All issues were discussed in the meetings between the delegations with the aim of investing in Sudan from Turkey and reviving the previous agreements.” he said.

Dagalo stated that Turkey is the first country to support the revolution and change, referring to the participation of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in the signing of the constitutional document, emphasizing that Turkey wishes to help the Sudanese people.

Dagalo stated that the value of the agreements with the Turkish side is approximately ten billion US dollars, Sudan’s interest in the agreements exceeds 75 percent, therefore, these agreements should be updated and implemented. In this context, he emphasized Turkey’s desire to serve Sudan according to common interests.

Finally, Dagalo emphasized that Turkey’s invitation to visit was submitted for approval by the Sovereignty Council and the ministers, and stated that all previous agreements with the Turkish side regarding the visit were reviewed and the necessary preliminary negotiations were made in advance by ensuring coordination before the visit.

Dagalo had traveled to the Turkish capital on May 27 to meet with Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay in the first visit made by Sudan to Turkey since the fall of Omar al-Bashir in 2019. The visit was established following a letter from the Turkish Vice President which was given to Dagalo by the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan. The purpose of the visit was regarded as finding ways to develop bilateral relations and economic ties between the two states.
