The President of Tunisia, Kais Saied, received the head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed el-Menfi, on Saturday, at the presidential suite of the Tunis-Carthage International Airport, until May 31.
The President of Tunisia will hold a private meeting with Mohamed Al-Menfi, at the Palace of Carthage, preceded by an enlarged meeting which will be held in the presence of the delegations of the two countries.
This visit is part of the strengthening of historical bonds of “brotherhood and partnership” relations in various areas that unite the two countries, a press release from the Presidency of the Tunisian Republic published on May 27 stated.
In the press release, it is explained that the meeting between the two leaders will focus on developing cooperation and integration relations between the two countries and the prospects of strengthening and boosting them. Solutions of overcoming the difficulties encountered by the two neighboring countries will also be discussed in order to raise relations to the rank of a solid strategic partnership that can meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples for a better complementarity.
The President of Tunisia and the President of the Libyan Presidential Council will also hold a joint press conference at the end of these talks, according to the same source.
Tunisia and Libya, two neighboring countries in North Africa, closely follow each other in foreign policy. Social, political, and security developments in Libya have been observed to directly affect Tunisia.
