Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and US President discuss over a phone call

A wide range of issues, ranging from climate change to regional and international developments, were discussed during a phone call between President Biden and Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed.

The White House issued a statement announcing that US President Joe Biden and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed held talks through a phone call. According to the statement, the President praised the bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). President Biden also delivered his congratulations on the UAE’s upcoming 50th-anniversary celebrations by highlighting the strategic importance of establishing diplomatic relations between the UAE and Israel.

The statement also indicated that Joe Biden and Mohammed bin Zayed discussed “regional and global issues, including Afghanistan, the nuclear and regional dimensions of the threat posed by Iran, as well as the common quest for de-escalation and peace in the Middle East”. In this sense, the two agreed to prioritize cooperation to struggle challenges, including the humanitarian crisis in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, the statement added.

According to the statement, cooperation in the fields of clean and renewable energy, and climate change were other subjects that the two top officials exchanged views on. They also emphasized the importance of diplomatic and political means that would be employed to overcome regional conflicts and crises.
