The delegation of Turkey’s Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (MUSİAD) went to Qatar to hold several talks with Qatari officials in Doha. Within the scope of the visit, the head of the Turkish association Abdurrahman Kaan came together with Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani.
In his statement, Kaan stressed that the trade volume between the two countries is satisfying for the Turkish companies carrying out operations in the region. Also, it is expected that bilateral trade volume would exceed $5 billion in the upcoming period, Kaan added. The Turkish businessperson also highlighted the importance of Anatolia, saying, “Considered as an intercontinental logistics center, Anatolia will become one of the most important centers of trade in the future.”
Besides, Kaan emphasized that the flow of investment from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Gulf regions to Turkey will continue. He also underlined that Turkey is an attractive market for businesspeople in the region.
The two countries have been experiencing strong, strategic economic ties in recent years. In 2020, the trade volume between the two countries increased by %6 and reached $1.6 billion. In the first quarter of 2021, Turkey’s export to Qatar has reached around $1 billion, as well. On the other hand, 179 Qatari companies have been operating in Turkey in addition to Qatari investments worth $22 billion.
