On Thursday, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) started delivering humanitarian supplies that were supplied by Saudi Arabia as part of a program to improve food security. This project will benefit more than 300,000 people living in the country of Lebanon.
This help is a gift from the Saudi Embassy to the initiative of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center for a project to support food security, which targets more than 300,000 people in need in Lebanon, according to a statement released by the UN commission.
According to ESCWA, the assistance will be dispersed throughout Lebanon’s many different social groups.
According to a statement that was released by the French Embassy on April 26, Saudi Arabia and France announced the establishment of a joint development fund for Lebanon. The two countries also made a commitment to contribute approximately 76 million dollars toward the improvement of Lebanon’s food security and health care system.
Since the latter half of 2019, Lebanon has been dealing with serious domestic issues, including a devaluation of its currency relative to the dollar of the United States, as well as shortages of fuel and medicine.
