Due to a new dust storm, Iraq announced that it temporarily suspended flights from Baghdad airport on Monday

Authorities were forced to halt air traffic because of the weather conditions in the Iraqi capital, a statement by Baghdad airport said.

Monday’s dust storm is the tenth in Iraq since mid-April, which has been battered by soil degradation, intense droughts and low rainfall linked to climate change.

While thousands suffered respiratory problems, an Iraqi citizen died in a sandstorm last month.
