Late on Monday, a rocket attack reportedly targeted Iraq’s Ain al-Assad airbase, which accommodates US troops.

According to Iraqi media, at least two rockets were fired at the base in Anbar province.

Iraqi or US officials are yet to confirm the reports.

The Ain al-Assad base is frequently targeted by rockets and armed drones. The last such incident saw two rockets fall nearby the base on April 30 without causing damage or deaths. ,

“International Resistance,” a previously unknown group hostile to the United States’ military presence in Iraq, claimed responsibility for the attack on a pro-Iran Telegram channel.
