On Monday, three children were killed in an attack by the Bashar al-Assad regime and Iranian-affiliated terrorist groups in violation of a truce in Syria’s northwestern Idlib de-escalation zone, according to civil defense forces.
The village of Maarat Naasan in northwestern Idlib province was shelled, according to regime forces and affiliated Iranian militias, the sources said.
They also revealed that the attack claimed the lives of three children.
According to local sources, Russian warplanes carried out four airstrikes in southern Idlib on Monday.
As a result of a March 2020 agreement between Turkey and Russia, Idlib is included in a de-escalation zone. While this was supposed to be a de-escalation zone for the conflict, the regime has repeatedly breached the agreement.
Since the Assad regime’s brutal crackdown on pro-democracy protests in early 2011, Syria has been embroiled in a bloody civil war.
There have been approximately half a million deaths, and more than 12 million people have been forced to flee their homes, in the last decade.
