Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkey’s foreign minister, met with his Emirati counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Monday. Two ministers addressed a number of problems, including the conflict in Ukraine.
“Discussed bilateral relations & regional developments, especially in Ukraine,” Cavusoglu announced on Twitter.
Russia’s war on Ukraine, which began on February 24, has sparked worldwide criticism, financial penalties, and an exodus of foreign companies from the country.
At Al Nahyan’s invitation, the top Turkish diplomat is in the United Arab Emirates to speak at the 16th UAE Ambassadors and Representatives of Diplomatic Missions Forum. After years of strained ties, Turkiye and the Arab world are undergoing a significant thaw.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Abu Dhabi last month and stated that Turkey and the UAE have the same objective of strengthening bilateral ties.
The visit of Abu Dhabi’s crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to Ankara in November was a watershed moment, leading to the launch of a $10 billion fund for Turkiye projects.
