According to the statement of a local police officer, two security personnel were wounded while an Iraqi civilian passed away in a bomb attack that occurred on late Saturday in Saladin Province located in northern Iraq. Iraqi police officer Samir al-Shahabi reported that the bomb exploded while a police vehicle was passing in the south of Saladin. Security forces started an operation to capture the criminals, he added.

Even though any group has not yet assumed responsibility for the attack, Iraqi authorities estimate that the Daesh/ISIS terrorist group is responsible for the offensive. Such attacks have been carried out by Daesh/ISIS terrorists, particularly targeting the area between Kirkuk, Saladin, and Diyala since the beginning of the year. The region has been known as the “Triangle of Death.” The Iraqi army has been launching operations against the terrorist group in these regions within the country.

Despite the fact that the Iraqi army declared victory against Daesh/ISIS in its territory in 2017, the terrorist group was able to carry out such attacks through its sleeper cells in various regions within the Iraqi territory.
